Prince Harry Challenges UK Security Downgrade in Court

Prince Harry is challenging the UK’s decision to downgrade his taxpayer-funded security after he stepped back from royal duties in 2020. He appeared at London’s Royal Courts of Justice on April 8, 2025, for a two-day appeal hearing.

In 2020, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) reduced his security. The High Court upheld this decision in February 2024. Prince Harry argues that the downgrade endangers him and his family because of ongoing threats and media attention.

He offered to personally fund police protection, but authorities rejected his proposal.

This legal challenge coincides with other concerns, including an investigation into bullying allegations within his Sentebale charity by UK charity regulators.
