Born on December 20, 1968, in Enugu State, Vice Admiral Ogalla joined the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) as part of the 39 Regular Combatant Course in 1987. He graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and was commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant in 1992.
