Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has emphasized the need for sincere collaboration between the state government and the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC). He highlighted that strong partnerships are essential to achieve sustainable development across the state and the broader North-Central region.
Governor Alia explained that regional growth depends on coordinated planning and execution. Many development projects fail or deliver limited impact when agencies operate in isolation. Investing in Roads to Boost Economy
Governor Alia has also unveiled a bold plan to construct and rehabilitate roads across all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State. He disclosed that the project will require approximately N242 billion. The governor emphasized that well-built roads are essential for trade, transportation, and economic development.
He explained that the funding will cover new construction, repair of existing roads, bridges, and drainage systems. To mobilize resources, the government plans to explore federal support, public-private partnerships, and internally generated revenue. By investing in infrastructure, Governor Alia aims to improve market access for farmers, lower transportation costs for traders, and enhance connectivity for all residents.
He further assured citizens that the project would be managed with transparency and accountability. High-quality materials and proper supervision will ensure that the roads are safe and durable. The governor emphasized that infrastructure investment is critical for long-term economic growth and community development.
