In a commendable effort to combat period poverty, Seyi Tinubu, a prominent youth advocate and entrepreneur, donated sanitary pads to 12,000 girls across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria in celebration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day. This initiative, coordinated by the Almaasaareef Foundation and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, aims to promote menstrual hygiene and ensure that girls can manage their menstruation with dignity.
Addressing Menstrual Health Needs
The donation addresses a critical issue faced by many girls in low-income communities who often lack access to essential menstrual products. Reports indicate that the high cost of sanitary pads can lead girls to use unhygienic alternatives or miss school during their menstrual periods, adversely affecting their education.
