South Korean authorities have seized a massive shipment of cocaine valued at $697 million. The drugs were found at the Port of Busan in shipping containers that arrived from South America.
The cocaine, weighing over one ton, was likely destined for distribution across Asia. This seizure resulted from a joint operation between South Korean customs, police, and international intelligence agencies.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) reported that the bust prevented a major drug distribution network from expanding in the region.
Authorities arrested several suspects and continue to pursue others connected to the smuggling operation. South Korean officials are strengthening border controls to prevent similar incidents in the future.
This seizure highlights the growing threat of international drug trafficking and South Korea’s commitment to fighting the illicit drug trade.
