Early Life and Formation
Father Edeh was born on May 20, 1947. His early years began in Ndiagu Akpugo.
He attended Holy Angel’s Catholic School for his primary education. Even at that stage, teachers noticed discipline and curiosity.
Soon after, he entered the Holy Ghost Juniorate in Ihiala. There, he began both secondary education and early seminary formation.
Later, he continued philosophical studies at the Holy Ghost Scholasticate in Awo Omama.
Afterward, he proceeded to Bigard Memorial Seminary in Enugu for theological training.
Then, on April 19, 1976, the Church ordained him a Catholic priest. This moment marked the beginning of a lifelong mission.
Academic Journey Abroad
Soon after his early pastoral work, Father Edeh pursued advanced studies abroad.
He travelled to the United States. There, he studied philosophy at DePaul University in Chicago.
His academic focus centered on African philosophy and metaphysics. Through this work, he developed ideas that would later influence African philosophical studies.
At the same time, he expanded his professional knowledge.
For example, he studied computer science. He also trained in educational psychology.
In addition, he obtained certification in clinical pastoral education.

Founder of Nigeria’s First Private University
One of Father Edeh’s most historic achievements arrived in 1999.
That year, he founded Madonna University Nigeria.
At that time, Nigeria had no private universities. Therefore, the new institution changed the direction of higher education in the country.
Madonna University became:

• The first Catholic university in West Africa
Since then, the institution has trained thousands of professionals.
Today, its graduates serve in medicine, law, engineering, business, and public administration.

A Builder of Educational Institutions
However, Madonna University represents only one part of Father Edeh’s broader vision.
Over the years, he founded several other institutions.
For example, he established OSISATECH Polytechnic in 1989. The institution became one of the earliest private polytechnics in Nigeria.
Later, he founded Caritas University in 2004.
In addition, he created OSISATECH College of Education.

Founder of a Major Pilgrimage Centre

In 1984, he founded the Catholic Prayer Ministry of the Holy Spirit in Elele.

Over time, the center grew into a major Catholic pilgrimage destination.
Today, the site is known worldwide as the Sanctuary of Jesus the Saviour and Mother Mary.

Founder of Religious Congregations
