Marmoush Scores 3 as Man City Cruise Past Newcastle 4-0

Omar Marmoush scored his first Manchester City goal in spectacular fashion, netting a first-half hat-trick to lead Pep Guardiola’s side to a dominant 4-0 victory over Newcastle on Saturday. The emphatic win propelled City back into the Premier League’s top four and provided a timely boost following their midweek Champions League disappointment against Real Madrid.

Still reeling from their dramatic 3-2 loss to the Spanish giants, City needed a strong response, and Marmoush delivered, dismantling Newcastle’s defense within the first 33 minutes. The highly anticipated showdown between Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak was overshadowed by the Egyptian forward’s sensational display.

Having joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in January after scoring 20 goals this season, Marmoush wasted no time proving his worth. His performance showcased City’s desire to add attacking depth alongside Haaland, and early signs suggest the duo could form a lethal partnership.

Guardiola made six changes to rotate his squad ahead of next week’s second-leg clash with Madrid, including handing Marmoush a starting spot. The move paid off immediately.

City’s opening goal stemmed from an assist by goalkeeper Ederson, who atoned for his costly midweek errors. His long kick caught Kieran Trippier off-guard, allowing Marmoush to capitalize with a composed lob over Martin Dubravka.

Five minutes later, Ilkay Gundogan set up Marmoush for his second. The forward cut inside the box and unleashed a deflected shot that nestled into the bottom corner.

Savinho, another bright spark for City, tormented Newcastle’s defense down the right flank. His dazzling run past Lewis Hall led to a pinpoint cross for Marmoush to complete his hat-trick from close range.

With Newcastle struggling to mount a comeback, City remained in full control. Eddie Howe’s side, fresh off securing a place in the League Cup final, has now lost three of their last four Premier League games, denting their Champions League qualification hopes.

City sealed their statement victory in the 84th minute when James McAtee converted from close range after Haaland flicked on a Gundogan corner. However, the win was slightly marred by Haaland’s late injury scare, as the Norwegian striker had to be substituted after receiving treatment for a knee issue.
