Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was sent off in the first half of his team’s La Liga clash against Osasuna on Saturday after an exchange with referee Jose Munuera Montero.
With Madrid leading 1-0 thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s goal, the England international was shown a straight red card for apparent dissent. This marks Bellingham’s second dismissal since joining Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2023, his first coming last March after a confrontation with referee Jesus Gil Manzano during a 2-2 draw at Valencia.
Bellingham, a key figure in Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League triumphs last season, will now face a suspension as Los Blancos continue their title charge.
Real Madrid has recently voiced strong criticism of Spanish refereeing, even sending a formal complaint to the Spanish football federation, alleging biased officiating.
