With Madrid leading 1-0 thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s goal, the England international was shown a straight red card for apparent dissent. This marks Bellingham’s second dismissal since joining Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in 2023, his first coming last March after a confrontation with referee Jesus Gil Manzano during a 2-2 draw at Valencia.
Bellingham, a key figure in Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League triumphs last season, will now face a suspension as Los Blancos continue their title charge.
Real Madrid has recently voiced strong criticism of Spanish refereeing, even sending a formal complaint to the Spanish football federation, alleging biased officiating.
