Canadian rap icon Drake has surpassed Justin Bieber to become the male artist with the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart. This milestone adds to his record-breaking streak following the release of his latest album, $ome $exy 4 U.
The album secured Drake his 14th No. 1 album as a solo artist, tying him with hip-hop legend Jay-Z and pop sensation Taylor Swift for the most chart-topping albums on the Billboard 200 by a soloist.
$ome $exy 4 U marks Drake’s first project since his high-profile feud with Kendrick Lamar, which led to the controversial diss track Not Like Us. The song became the subject of a lawsuit against Universal Music Group, with Drake alleging that the label failed to prevent the release of a track containing defamatory statements about him. He also accused UMG of using bots and unethical tactics to artificially inflate the song’s streaming numbers on Spotify.
Drake’s dominance continues into 2025, as he was recently recognized as the highest-selling rapper of 2024 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). He ranked as the second best-selling artist globally, trailing only Taylor Swift, who topped the list for the third consecutive year and fifth time overall.
This marks Drake’s 10th year in the IFPI’s global artist ranking top 10 and his 10th time as the highest-selling rapper worldwide, solidifying his legacy as one of the most commercially successful hip-hop artists of all time.
