Elon Musk Claims Ukraine-Based Hackers Launched ‘Massive’ Cyberattack on X

Elon Musk has claimed that a cyberattack on his social media platform, X, appears to have come from Ukraine. Speaking in an interview with Fox Business Network, Musk described the attack as “massive” and suggested it was launched by a coordinated group or even a foreign nation.

The outage began around 5:30 AM ET. Users worldwide struggled to access the platform. Many reported login issues and error messages such as, “Something went wrong, try reloading.”

Musk confirmed the attack in a post on X. He hinted that the scale of the assault was not typical of ordinary hackers. His suspicions grew when the hacker group known as Dark Storm Team took credit for the attack.

Cybersecurity firm SpyoSecure later reported that it had spoken to a leader of the group. The leader confirmed they had launched a Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack. A DDoS attack floods a website with artificial traffic, overwhelming its servers until the site slows down or crashes.

Musk believes that the IP addresses linked to the attack originated in the Ukraine area. He maintained that the incident was not random but the work of a well-organized entity.
