Minister Onyejeocha to Represent Nigeria at Global Excellence Summit 2025

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, is set to participate in the Global Excellence Summit and Awards (GESA) 2025, joining a distinguished group of global leaders, diplomats, and innovators. The summit, scheduled for May 23-24 in Lagos, aims to highlight Africa’s growing influence and contributions to global excellence.

Summit Focus: Diplomacy, Leadership, and Africa’s Prosperity

GESA 2025, themed “Global Excellence in Diplomacy and Leadership: Africa’s Path to Prosperity,” will explore various critical areas, including diplomacy, governance, trade, innovation, gender equity, and sustainable development. The event is organized in partnership with several prominent organizations, including the African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly and the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council.

The two-day program will feature keynote addresses from global and regional leaders, exhibitions, masterclasses on leadership and diplomacy, and panel discussions. The summit will culminate in an awards gala, where honorees will receive the Global Excellence Awards, AU Women Impact Awards, and the He-for-She Honours for male allies championing gender inclusion.

Key Participants and Objectives

Several high-profile figures are expected to attend the summit, including Justice Mainasara Ibrahim Kogo Umar, Chairman of Nigeria’s Code of Conduct Tribunal, and High Commissioners from The Gambia, Zambia, and Sierra Leone. Prominent business and policy leaders from across Africa and the diaspora will also be in attendance.

Ambassador Fatoumatta Gaye, Convener of GESA 2025 and Vice Chairperson of the AU Agenda 2063 Women and Gender Committee, described the summit as a platform for transformative conversations. She emphasized that the event is designed to position Africa as a global force for excellence, honoring those who are transforming systems and inspiring progress across the continent.

Onyejeocha’s Role and Commitment to Labour and Employment

Nkeiruka Onyejeocha’s participation in the summit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to fostering excellence in leadership and diplomacy, particularly in the context of labour and employment. As Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Onyejeocha has been actively involved in initiatives aimed at creating jobs, enhancing skills, and empowering the Nigerian workforce.

Onyejeocha has also focused on strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and other countries in the areas of employment and training. She recently met with Morocco’s Ambassador to Nigeria to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in employment, vocational training, and economic inclusion. This meeting is part of preparations for Onyejeocha’s official visit to Morocco at the invitation of her Moroccan counterpart, Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills.
