Pope Francis to Make First Public Appearance After Hospitalization

Pope Francis, aged 88, is scheduled to make his first public appearance on Sunday after a five-week hospitalization due to severe pneumonia. He will deliver his traditional Sunday blessing from a window at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital before returning to the Vatican for an extended period of rest and rehabilitation.

The Pope’s hospitalization began on February 14 following a severe respiratory infection that escalated into bilateral pneumonia, leading to several critical health episodes. His medical team has reported that while he is stable, he will require ongoing drug therapy and physical rehabilitation to regain strength and recover his voice.

During his hospital stay, Pope Francis continued some of his duties and is now expected to convalesce at the Vatican for at least two months. This period of rest may impact upcoming events, including meetings with dignitaries and participation in significant religious ceremonies.

The Vatican has expressed optimism about the Pope’s recovery, acknowledging the global support and prayers from the Catholic community during his illness.
