UK Labour leader Keir Starmer has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of “playing games” with the ongoing efforts to secure a peace deal in Ukraine. Starmer criticized Putin for what he described as insincere negotiations and deliberate delays in resolving the conflict.
Speaking at a press briefing, Starmer emphasized that any lasting peace must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He warned that Russia’s tactics of prolonging discussions while continuing military operations undermine genuine diplomatic efforts.
Western leaders have expressed similar concerns, urging stronger support for Ukraine to counter Russian aggression. Starmer called for a united international front to ensure Putin does not manipulate peace talks to his advantage.
The UK remains a key ally of Ukraine, providing military aid and diplomatic backing. Starmer reiterated that any agreement must not reward aggression but instead hold Russia accountable for its actions.
