Trump Signs Executive Order to Improve Shower Water Pressure

On April 9, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to increase water pressure in showerheads and household appliances. This order overturns regulations that limited water flow to 2.5 gallons per minute, a standard set in 1992.

The administration criticized the earlier regulations as part of a “radical green agenda” that restricted consumer choice. President Trump also noted that he had to stand under the shower for 15 minutes to get wet, emphasizing the inconvenience caused by low water pressure.

By redefining “showerhead” in federal regulations, the executive order restores the 1992 energy law’s original meaning. This change aims to give Americans more freedom and eliminate unnecessary regulations. The White House highlighted that the move is part of a broader effort to reduce overregulation and improve consumer choice.

This action aligns with President Trump’s ongoing agenda to reduce regulations and prioritize consumer freedom in everyday household items.
