US Defense Secretary Hegseth Declares Readiness for War With China

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated on Fox & Friends on Wednesday that the United States is “prepared” for war with China amid escalating tensions. His comments came in response to a provocative post from the Chinese Embassy in Washington that declared, “If war is what the U.S. wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war, or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end.”

Hegseth emphasized that the US would not back down, asserting, “Well, we’re prepared. Those who long for peace must prepare for war.” He underscored the importance of military strength in deterring conflict, noting that robust defense spending, advanced capabilities, and a strong posture in the Indo-Pacific are essential to maintain peace.

His remarks arrive as tensions between the US and China continue to rise over trade policies and military maneuvers in the region. With China, the world’s largest navy and the second-largest military spender, actively reinforcing its defense strategies, global observers warn that these tensions could escalate in the coming months.
