US Government Launches ‘Self-Deportation’ App for Illegal Immigrants

The United States government under President Donald Trump has launched a new app called CBP Home. This app is designed to help illegal immigrants voluntarily depart from the country. It replaces the controversial CBP One app, which was widely used during the Biden administration for scheduling appointments at U.S. ports of entry and granting temporary legal status through parole.

The Trump administration has overhauled the system. Instead of facilitating entry, the new app focuses on voluntary departure. According to the Department of Homeland Security, all existing CBP One apps will automatically update to CBP Home. The new app features a tool that allows migrants to report their intent to leave the U.S. and to submit proof of departure. However, this option is only available to those who were initially paroled into the country under Biden’s policies.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that the app is a necessary step to fix what she called the failures of the previous administration’s immigration policies. She accused Biden of using the CBP One app to undermine border security and to facilitate the mass entry of illegal migrants. “The Biden administration exploited the CBP One app to allow more than one million aliens to illegally enter the United States. With the launching of the CBP Home app, we are restoring integrity to our immigration system,” Noem said.

The app gives undocumented migrants a chance to leave the country voluntarily. Noem warned that those who do not use the app to self-deport will face strict enforcement actions. “The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self-deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream. If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return,” she added.

This new policy is part of a series of aggressive immigration measures by the Trump administration. On his first day in office, Trump dismantled Biden’s immigration policies. The administration ended the use of CBP One for parole and suspended humanitarian parole programs. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also been allowed to revoke parole statuses granted under Biden’s policies.

Overall, the CBP Home app marks a dramatic shift in federal immigration policy. It clearly signals that voluntary departure is now the only option for those who entered the U.S. under the previous, more relaxed border policies.
