US Secret Service Shoots Armed Suspect Outside White House

A yet-to-be-identified man was shot by US Secret Service agents on Sunday outside the White House after an armed confrontation. According to a statement from the Secret Service, the incident began after local police provided intelligence about a “suicidal individual” possibly traveling from Indiana to Washington, DC.

Officers approached the man, who matched the description provided and reportedly brandished a firearm. The situation quickly escalated, leading the agents to fire their weapons. The suspect sustained injuries and is currently hospitalized in an unknown condition.

The incident occurred while President Donald Trump was away at his Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago. The Secret Service statement explained, “As officers approached, the individual brandished a firearm and an armed confrontation ensued, during which shots were fired by our personnel.”

Washington’s Metropolitan Police, which investigates all law-enforcement shootings in the District of Columbia, has launched an investigation into the incident.
