Yemen’s Houthi rebels have reported that overnight airstrikes in Hodeida province resulted in the deaths of four individuals, an attack they attribute to the United States. Anees Alasbahi, a spokesman for the Houthi health ministry, stated that the strikes targeted a water management facility, leading to four fatalities and three injuries.
These incidents are part of a broader pattern of U.S. military actions in Yemen. Since mid-March, the U.S. has intensified its airstrike campaign against the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels, following their threats against shipping routes amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. The U.S. aims to eliminate Houthi leadership and restore freedom of navigation in the region.
In response to escalating tensions, the U.S. has deployed additional military assets to the Middle East, including at least six nuclear-capable B-2 bombers to Diego Garcia. This move underscores the U.S.’s commitment to addressing threats in the region, particularly concerning Iran’s nuclear program and the activities of Houthi rebels.
The ongoing conflict has led to significant casualties and infrastructure damage in Yemen, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the country.
