Abba Aliyu, Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has revealed that around 80 million Nigerians currently lack access to electricity. This staggering figure underscores the significant challenges Nigeria faces in achieving universal energy access, despite ongoing efforts and investments in the power sector.

During a recent event, Aliyu emphasized the REA’s ambitious plans to address Nigeria’s energy deficit. The agency aims to provide stable electricity to 17.5 million individuals, including 237,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as 3,030 state-owned hospitals.
