Kefas Says Taraba Is 100 Percent Behind APC Ahead of 2027

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has declared that the state is “100 percent” behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections, saying federal government interventions have strengthened support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Kefas Cites Federal Interventions

Kefas made the declaration on Wednesday after meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The governor, who is also the APC leader in Taraba, said residents were benefiting from federal support in security, education, healthcare and infrastructure.

According to the governor, the impact of federal programmes across Taraba has strengthened residents’ confidence in the Tinubu administration.

He specifically pointed to security interventions, free education, healthcare services and infrastructure development as areas where he said the state had benefited from federal support.

Kefas said these interventions had helped demonstrate what he described as the Federal Government’s commitment to the people of Taraba.

Consequently, he said residents were prepared to support Tinubu at the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Declares Taraba’s Support for APC

Kefas said he was confident that Taraba residents would support the President at the polls, declaring that the state was “100 percent” for the APC.

His statement represents the governor’s political position and commitment to Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election. The eventual voting outcome, however, will be determined by voters and the electoral process.

The governor’s declaration comes as political parties and support groups intensify mobilisation activities across states ahead of the next general elections.

Meeting With Tinubu

Kefas said his visit to the Presidential Villa had more than one purpose.

He said he had gone to welcome Tinubu back to Abuja and also to express his condolences over the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State.

The governor described the incident as a national tragedy and extended his sympathy to the affected military personnel, their families and other Nigerians involved.

Security Remains a Major Issue

The governor’s reference to security also comes as federal and state authorities continue to focus on improving Nigeria’s security environment.

For Taraba, security remains closely connected to economic activity, agriculture, education and community development.

Kefas’ comments suggest that he considers federal security interventions an important part of the relationship between the state government and the Tinubu administration.

At the same time, security outcomes remain subject to developments on the ground and the effectiveness of coordination between federal agencies, state authorities and local communities.

Education and Healthcare Feature in Kefas’ Assessment

Beyond security, Kefas highlighted education and healthcare as areas where he said federal interventions were being felt in Taraba.

These sectors remain important to state development because access to quality education and healthcare directly affects human capital, productivity and household welfare.

The governor therefore linked federal support in these areas to his assessment of the administration’s impact on Taraba.

Infrastructure Adds to the Political Conversation

Infrastructure was another area highlighted by the governor.

Roads, public facilities and other infrastructure projects can have a direct effect on communities by improving connectivity and supporting economic activity.

For state governments, federal infrastructure support can also complement their own development programmes.

Therefore, Kefas’ comments place infrastructure alongside security, education and healthcare as key areas shaping his administration’s relationship with the Federal Government.

APC Mobilisation Intensifies Ahead of 2027

The governor’s declaration comes as mobilisation for the 2027 elections gathers momentum.

Political actors and support groups have increasingly focused on grassroots structures, with state and local government areas becoming important centres of political organisation.

In Taraba, recent mobilisation efforts have also included the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, which launched a grassroots campaign in Jalingo and called for support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The development shows that support for the President is becoming part of a wider political mobilisation effort in the state.

From Political Declaration to Election Day

While Kefas has declared that Taraba is fully behind the APC, the statement should be understood as a political commitment rather than a confirmed prediction of the eventual election result.

The 2027 presidential election has yet to take place, and voters across Taraba will ultimately make their choices through the electoral process.

Nevertheless, the governor’s declaration signals his administration’s alignment with Tinubu and the APC as political activities intensify ahead of the election.

Taraba’s Political Direction

Kefas’ position also marks an important development in the political alignment between Taraba State and the Federal Government.

By publicly pledging support for Tinubu, the governor has placed his administration firmly within the APC’s mobilisation efforts ahead of 2027.

For the President and the ruling party, such declarations form part of the broader effort to build political support across states.

Ultimately, whether that support translates into votes will depend on the decisions of Taraba’s electorate and the wider electoral process.

For now, Kefas has made his position clear: he says Taraba is fully behind the APC and intends to support Tinubu as the country moves towards the 2027 presidential election.
