Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has donated two coaster buses to the women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, reaffirming his support for greater participation of women in political mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
The donation was received as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of women within the party structure while encouraging their continued contribution to democratic governance and community development.
Furthermore, the initiative reflects the growing recognition of the critical role women play in political organisation, voter education, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive leadership at all levels.
Empowering Women Through Practical Support
Governor Alia noted that women remain indispensable partners in nation-building and political development, emphasizing that providing practical support for their activities will enhance their effectiveness in community mobilisation and civic engagement.
He stressed that empowering women with the necessary resources contributes to stronger grassroots participation while encouraging greater inclusion in decision-making processes and leadership positions.
Moreover, investments in women’s development strengthen families, communities, and democratic institutions by creating opportunities for broader participation in governance and public service.
Transportation Support to Enhance Party Activities
The two coaster buses are expected to improve mobility for the APC women’s wing during meetings, outreach programmes, community engagements, and other party activities across Benue State.
Reliable transportation will enable members to coordinate activities more efficiently while expanding their participation in political education, advocacy campaigns, and developmental initiatives that benefit local communities.
In addition, improved logistics can strengthen organisational effectiveness and encourage greater interaction between party leaders and grassroots supporters.
Recognising the Role of Women in Democratic Governance
Governor Alia acknowledged the immense contributions of women to political stability, electoral participation, and social development, describing them as vital stakeholders in the democratic process.
He encouraged women to remain active participants in governance by promoting peace, unity, and constructive engagement within their communities while supporting initiatives that advance sustainable development.
Furthermore, the governor reiterated that inclusive governance requires greater opportunities for women to contribute their knowledge, experience, and leadership abilities toward national progress.
Commitment to Inclusive Development
The donation also aligns with broader efforts to encourage inclusive participation in political and social development by ensuring that women receive adequate support to perform their responsibilities effectively.
Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and programmes that empower women, promote gender inclusion, and expand opportunities for leadership, entrepreneurship, education, and economic participation across Benue State.
Such initiatives, he noted, contribute to stronger institutions and more resilient communities capable of supporting long-term development.
Strengthening Grassroots Engagement
The presentation of the two coaster buses represents another effort to strengthen grassroots political engagement and community mobilisation within Benue State.
As women continue to play significant roles in political organisation and public service, the governor expressed confidence that the support will enhance their effectiveness while encouraging greater participation in activities that promote democratic values and community development.
Through sustained investment in inclusion and empowerment, the Benue State Government aims to build a more participatory society where women remain active partners in governance, leadership, and the continued development of the state.
